Data Governance Specialist
Overview
Data Governance Specialist required for a long-term remote contract opportunity within Europe.
The consultant will play a key role in establishing and improving enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, metadata management, data ownership structures, and regulatory compliance processes. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview is essential.
This is a highly stakeholder-facing role working closely with IT, Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, and business teams.

Required Experience
- Strong Data Governance experience
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview
- Experience with:
- Data cataloguing
- Metadata management
- Data lineage
- Data classification
- Governance policies
- Experience creating and implementing governance frameworks
- Strong understanding of GDPR and information security standards
- Experience with ISO/IEC 27001
- Information modelling experience:
- Conceptual models
- Logical models
- Physical models
- Experience working with business and technical stakeholders
- Data quality and data lifecycle management exposure
Responsibilities
- Establish and improve data governance frameworks, standards, and processes
- Drive implementation of data ownership and stewardship models
- Improve metadata management and data catalogue structures
- Support governance tooling initiatives using Microsoft Purview
- Support GDPR and internal security policy compliance
- Collaborate with IT, Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, and business teams
- Support data quality and lifecycle management initiatives
- Deliver governance education and data literacy initiatives
- Track governance maturity, risks, and continuous improvement activities
